USC Neurosurgery

USC NeurosurgeryUSC Neurosurgery represents the future of advanced neurosurgical care. With access to the latest medical technology, our neurosurgical team uses its collective expertise to make a positive impact on patients experiencing disorders or injuries of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. In conjunction with Palmetto Health Richland, we provide the highest level of neurosurgical care.

High-Level Trauma & Emergency Care
Our neurosurgeons are the sole team privileged to provide around-the-clock coverage for adult and pediatric neurosurgical emergencies at Palmetto Health Richland. With helicopter transport, 24-hour angiographic and CT imaging, and a dedicated surgical trauma intensive care facility, the hospital is ranked as the only Level I Trauma Center in the region.

Adult Neurosurgery
We routinely care for a wide range of adult neurosurgical problems, including treatment of brain tumors, pituitary tumors, cerebral aneurysms and vascular malformations, spinal tumors, and degenerative and developmental disorders of the spine and craniovertebral junction. Our neurosurgeons also offer special expertise in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia and cancer pain.

Pediatric Neurosurgery
With the only fellowship-trained pediatric neurosurgeon in the greater Columbia area, our group offers expertise in childhood brain tumors and complex developmental disorders. The pediatric and neonatal intensive care units of Palmetto Health Richland allow us to address the unique needs of children.

State of the Art Technology

In collaboration with interventional neuroradiologists, we offer our patients immediate access to minimally invasive treatments, including percutaneous vertebroplasty, embolization of brain arteriovenous malformations and obliteration of cerebral aneurysms by detachable endovascular coils.

Interventional Neuroradiology

Just a short indoor walk from our office suite is South Carolina's only Gamma Knife facility, where our neurosurgeons provide noninvasive neurosurgical treatment of brain tumors, vascular malformations and trigeminal neuralgia. Play Informational Video.

Gamma Knife

Advanced computer technology in the operating rooms of Palmetto Health Richland allows our specialists to perform minimally invasive procedures safely and accurately by means of three-dimensional brain and spine imaging.

three-dimensional brain and spine imaging

A secure network of computer workstations gives our neurosurgeons instant access to Palmetto Health Richland CT, MRI, angiography and other radiological imaging in their offices and homes. This around-the-clock capability allows for rapid decision making regarding the care of patients.
